Play "The Leprechaun's Gold". One child (the leprechaun)
sits in a chair with eyes closed and his/her back to the rest
of the class. The "gold" is placed behind the chair. A child,
chosen by the teacher, quietly creeps up behind the "leprechaun",
steals the gold, and hides it at his/her desk. All the children
chant, "Leprechaun, Leprechaun, where is your gold?" The
child turns, looks around the room, and has three chances to
guess
which student took the gold. After guessing, the child who
took the gold becomes the leprechaun and play continues. |

Play "Shamrock Rock" -
Write various math facts on paper shamrocks. Place the shamrocks
facedown on the students' desks.
While Irish music is playing, have the children march around
the desks. When the music stops, each player picks up a shamrock.
The child with the lowest answer is out. |

March Madness - In March, set a goal for
out-of-school reading minutes. If the goal is met, every student
gets a book to keep. Do it for a month, with the idea that
anything you do for a month can become a habit.
